Criminal Defense

Criminal defense provides the necessary legal protections afforded to people who have been accused of committing a crime. The balance of power within the justice system would become skewed in favor of the government prosecutors and law enforcement agencies without adequate protections for the accused. As the system currently stands, fair treatment for citizens accused of criminal activity often depends as much upon the skill of their defense attorney as it does the substantive protections contained in the law.

Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence is an act of wrongdoing, normally an attack, battery, stalking, or criminal provocation, executed by somebody against a family or family unit part. Whether a person has been wrongly accused of Domestic Violence, or they are a victim of abuse, compassionate and dedicated representation is paramount in resolving the myriad legal issues a client faces when bringing these intimate issues into a court of law.

Fire-Arms Related Charges

In the event that you, or somebody you know, has been accused of firearm law infringement in Washington, the legislature must demonstrate the components required under the Washington State criminal statute of the offense. Washington State weapon infringement might be conferred in various routes - from neglecting to registure, to conveying a stacked gun in a vehicle, to being a criminal possessing a gun.

Drug Possession

Though possession of marijuana (cannabis) in quantities of less than 1 ounce is currently legal in Washington State, possession of more than 1 ounce, possession while under the age of 21, or sale of marijuana are still illegal in most cases. Possession of more than 40 grams may be considered a felony offense and can carry a prison sentence of up to 5 years as well as a fine up to $10,000. Possession of other controlled substances such as illegal prescription drugs, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, methamphetamines and the like may is considered a felony offense and can also carries a prison sentence of up to 5 years and a fine up to $10,000.

In Washinton State, some sources of relief from a conviction for drug possession are available, such as Drug Offender Sentencing Alternative and First Time Offender Waivers, and consulting with a proven criminal defense attorney will ensure that you have the best chance of avoiding such a conviction in the first place.

Intent to Sell

In Washington State, being charged with possession, delivery, or manufacture of a controlled substance with intent to distribute is considered in most cases to be a Class B felony. This can carry a prison sentence of up to 10 years and a fine of up $25,000 or more (possession of more than 2 kilograms of some substances, such as methamphetamine, can be fined up to $100,000).
